Thursday 26th September – 10am till 1pm

This class is only available to those who have completed a basic sewing course or attended some private sewing lessons with me. You will need to have good knowledge and confidence when using a sewing a machine. You should be able to follow basic instructions and work independently.  It would be a good idea to attend a SEW PATTERNS session prior to this class.

On a SEW PATTERN UP session,  I will get you started on the process of making up your sewing pattern. This MUST be cut out in the fabric BEFORE the session.  If you need help to cut out your fabric pattern pieces you can book a PRIVATE LESSON or a SEW PATTERNS session with me.

Sewing Machines are provided, but you can bring your own machine to use if you’d prefer.

As you will be working at your own pace / level, I’m afraid it’s impossible for me to guarantee how much you will get done in the time. You are very unlikely to finish the garment in one session but can always book another SEW PATTERN UP session if you feel the need. I used to run a SEW DAY but it proved to be too tiring for everyone involved!

If you are a complete beginner to dressmaking, please bare in mind that this class is more about learning the process than the finished article. It is extremely wise when putting together a new pattern to always make a toile (test garment). This way you get a practise run to see if the garment actually suits you and to check the fit. An untreated cotton fabric called Calico is often used to make up a toile as it’s cheap and practical.
