SEW CLUB – MONTHLY CLASSES

£75 for 3 months

Due to its popularity Sew Club has become rather exclusive!

Even though I have four separate groups, it’s not often that a place becomes available. Some of my original students still come once a month to Sew Club!

Because I would like to offer as many of my students as possible the opportunity of continuing classes with me it is now only possible to join Sew Club if you have done a Basic Course.

Each Sew Club group runs once a month, generally on a Friday morning from 10am till about 1pm.  I also have one group on a Tuesday morning.

I’m afraid I don’t run Sew Club in the evenings or at the weekends because  I also enjoy being a very busy mum with two gorgeous children who I want to spend lots of time with!

Sew Club London

There are two levels in Sew Club…

Level 1 is for those who have just completed the Basic Course. You can go on to make simple items designed to improve techniques and confidence. We work all together, step by step, and the fabric is provided all ready cut out so all you have to worry about is the sewing. There is no dressmaking at this level. Items we make include… cushion covers, bunting, bags, apron, appliqued book cover, fabric box, and hanging decorations.  There is a small extra charge for the fabrics provided.

Level 2 is for those who are ready for more of a challenge as you work on your own projects from scratch, with lots of guidance and advice from me.  You do need to be at a level to manage without my help for short periods of time as everyone works on different projects. Dressmaking is a popular choice at this level.

SEW CLUB EXTRA – ONE OFF SESSIONS

£30.00

SEW CLUB EXTRA  is for anyone who would like to come to Sew Club but can’t join one of the regular groups.  It will take place on a Monday morning from 10am till 1pm.
It is only available to those who have completed a basic sewing course or attended a private sewing lesson with me. You will need to have  good knowledge and confidence when using a sewing a machine. You should be able to follow basic instructions and work independently.
There will be a small extra charge for materials if you want to make the group project, but if you are happy to work on your own with direction, you can bring your own pre-cut project.
Sew Club Extra  will  run about once a month…  if I can fit one in!
There is no commitment as with my other Sew Clubs and you can book however many you like. Dates will be sent via a group email and places will be booked on a first come first serve basis.  This class can have a maximum of 6 students.
Please let me know if you would like to join the group email list.

SEW patterns – Morning sessions

£50.00

Please have a look at the BOOKINGS page for dates.

It will take place on a Thursday morning from 10am till 1pm. Due to space, this class can have a maximum of three students… hence the cost.

SEW PATTERNS has been designed to give an introduction to dressmaking patterns.

IMG_7530On a SEW PATTERNS session, you will learn how to cut out a simple pattern. I will explain how to work out your size,  calculate fabric amount and type,  and make simple alterations to the pattern. With my help you will cut out your paper pattern, pin it onto some ‘practise’ fabric and cut out the fabric pieces.

You will need to buy and bring with you a simple pattern, chosen from my list, and enough fabric. My list will be emailed to you on booking or if requested before booking.

It is extremely wise when putting together a new pattern to always make a toile (test garment). This way you get a practise run to see if the garment actually suits you and to check the fit. An untreated cotton fabric called Calico is often used to make up a toile as it’s cheap and practical.

At the end of the session it will be ready to sew together either at home or on one of my SEW PATTERN UP sessions.

SEW PATTERN UP – dressmaking MORNING SESSION

£30.00

Please have a look at the BOOKINGS page for dates.

SEW PATTERN UP will take place on a Thursday morning from 10am till 1pm. This class can have a maximum of 6 students.

It is only available to those who have completed a basic sewing course or attended some private sewing lessons with me. You will need to have good knowledge and confidence when using a sewing a machine. You should be able to follow basic instructions and work independently.  It would be a good idea to attend a SEW PATTERNS session prior to this class.

On a SEW PATTERN UP session,  I will get you started on the process of making up your sewing pattern. It MUST BE cut out in the fabric BEFORE the session.  If you need help to cut out your fabric pattern pieces you can book a PRIVATE LESSON or a SEW PATTERNS session with me.  Sewing Machines are provided, but you can bring your own machine  if you’d prefer.

As you will be working at your own pace / level, I’m afraid it’s impossible for me to
guarantee how much you will get done in the time. You are very unlikely to finish the garment in one session but can always book another SEW PATTERN UP session if you feel the need. I used to run a SEW DAY but it proved to be too tiring for everyone involved!
If you are a complete beginner to dressmaking, please bare in mind that this class is more about learning the process than the finished article. It is extremely wise when putting together a new pattern to always make a toile (test garment). This way you get a practise run to see if the garment actually suits you and to check the fit. An untreated cotton fabric called Calico is often used to make up a toile as it’s cheap and practical.
