Sew Young

SEWING CLASSES FOR teenagers

I am now only able to offer sewing classes for teenagers.  These classes are for children above the age of 13 years.

Since my return to the film industry, I’m very busy during the week creating costumes, as well as running my adult classes.  Because of this I’m no longer able to put on classes for younger children at the weekend.  I really didn’t want to give this up but I need some time off!

If you have a younger child who is desperate to learn, then there is the possibility of ONE-TO-ONE LESSONS during the school holidays, on a Weds, Thursday or Friday.  The cost is £40 per hour.

I will continue to run my regular teenager group every other Saturday.

SEW YOUNG

TEENAGERS only 13+

£120 – £140 per term (6 – 7 classes)

This class runs every other week on a Saturday morning from 10.30am till 12.30pm.

Once your child has learnt to control a sewing machine and has mastered a few basic techniques, she/he can join in with the rest of the group working on personal projects chosen to build on techniques and gain confidence. As this is a group of teenagers, most of these projects are fashion related.

This class is fantastic if your child loves textiles or fashion and is thinking about taking it further. Some of my previous students went on to study fashion at university.

Sewing machines and equipment are provided though you can bring your own if you want. You will be expected to buy your own fabric for projects.  Advice will always be given on what fabric to buy and how much you will need.

Sew Young is rebooked each term and current students will be offered places first. Places only become available when someone leaves, which is not that often I’m afraid. When someone leaves everyone on the waiting list is informed.

Please let me know if you would like to join the waiting list.

TEENAGE SEW DAY

TEENAGERS ONLY 13+

£50 for 3 hrs

If I’m around  during the Easter / Summer holidays, and have enough interest, I will organise a TEENAGE SEW DAY. It could take place on any day, depending on my availability, from 10am – 1pm

If your child is a beginner or quite new to using a sewing machine, the first time she/he comes will be spent building confidence on the sewing machine and learning all the basic techniques needed to make a simple garment. All being well, they should get the chance to make something small, such as a simple bag or pencil case.

If your child can already thread up and use a sewing machine WITH CONFIDENCE, then she/he can bring a garment or project to work on.  It must be already cut out and ready to sew as I’m afraid there’s not enough space or time for me to help with pattern cutting in this session.  To learn pattern cutting from me, you would need to book a one-to-one lesson.

I can provide sewing machines and equipment but if your child has their own it would be better to learn on it.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS CLASS.
