SEWING CLASSES FOR teenagers
I am now only able to offer sewing classes for teenagers. These classes are for children above the age of 13 years.
Since my return to the film industry, I’m very busy during the week creating costumes, as well as running my adult classes. Because of this I’m no longer able to put on classes for younger children at the weekend. I really didn’t want to give this up but I need some time off!
If you have a younger child who is desperate to learn, then there is the possibility of ONE-TO-ONE LESSONS straight after school, or during the school holidays, on a Weds, Thursday or Friday. The cost is £40 per hour.
I will continue to run my regular teenager group every other Saturday, and when I’m around during the school holidays I will organise a Teenage Sew Day.
TEENAGERS only 13+
£120 – £140 per term (6 – 7 classes)
This class runs every other week on a Saturday morning from 10.30am till 12.30pm.
As this class is booked per term, Current Students will be offered places first. If there are no places available I can put your name on the waiting list.
Once your child has learnt to control a sewing machine and has mastered a few basic techniques, she/he can join in with the rest of the group and work on projects chosen to build on techniques and gain confidence. As this is a group of teenagers, most of these projects are fashion related.
This class is fantastic if your child loves textiles or fashion and is thinking about taking it further. A couple of previous students who were with me from the age of 13 years went on to study fashion at university.
Sewing machines and equipment are provided but you will be expected to buy your own fabric for projects. Advice will always be given on what fabric to buy and how much you will need.
PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AT THE BOOKINGS PAGE FOR DATES.
TEENAGE SEW DAY
TEENAGERS ONLY 13+
£100 for the day
If I’m around during the Easter / Summer holidays, and have enough interest, I will organise a TEENAGE SEW DAY. It could take place on any day, depending on my availability, from 9am – 6pm
If your child is a beginner or quite new to using a sewing machine, the first time she/he comes will be spent building confidence on the sewing machine and learning all the basic techniques needed to make a simple garment. All being well, they should get the chance to make something small, such as a simple bag or pencil case. I will provide everything they need, including the sewing machines. All they will need to bring is a packed lunch.
If your child can already thread up and use a sewing machine WITH CONFIDENCE, she/he can chose a pattern from my list, to cut out and make up with my guidance. The patterns have been carefully chosen based on our timescale, however it’s impossible for me to guarantee that your child will get the garment completely finished in a day. I will provide sewing machines, thread and pattern cutting equipment. You will need to supply a pattern, enough fabric and a packed lunch.
